out on the town....
so...I usually have no beef with St.Mary's being such an isolated place....but after this weekend, I realize that sometimes a break is absolutely beautiful. Friday was soo beautiful here, T-shirt weather in Febuary. Jen had to take Mattipants to get art supplies so me and her walked to her aunts house 2 miles or so down the road to get the car (a red BMW convertable). We sat and drank iced tea for a while at her aunts house, then we went cruising all over town. I bought Adam a birthday present (a nerf gun) hells yeah. I just have to mail it..hmm..lame. The we had a delicious meal at Ruby Tuesday's. I came back and watch the Beach with Alec (which was just soo damn cheesy it rocked) and got to hear drama from Laura and just hung out, then I went to bed after talking to Carmen until 5 or so. I woke up around 11:30 or so , Alec and I went to brunch as planned. At brunch we realized it was tour day and alec and i started to talk to this family that was visiting. Alec and I talked about extracircular activities. They asked us about drinking on campus and I said that if it was there, then people were responsible and Alec was more negative about it...then in perfect timing , Jen comes over and is like "KELLY, you realize that we are showing our room today and there's stuff everywhere and by stuff i mean illegal stuff". The look on the family's face was AMAZING...i'm not even mad (lolzzzz). Then I rushed back to speed clean the room (which still looks great). Durning the tours Alec came over and played guitar (some new songs , some covers) for Jen and me. I fell in love with him all over again for like a few minutes when he sang Red Right Ankle and then Two-Headed Boy Pt.2 (which is my favourite song of all time). Then Dave, Alec and I went to D.C. , the drive to the metro station was a lot longer then i thought it would be, but not too bad , we rocked out to some Frog Eyes and some other stuff. Then we met up with Alison (Alec's girlfriend) in Chinatown and had some really really good dinner/lunch. I didn't really like Alison much before the trip , but over dinner I learned to really like her a lot. She's really cool and her and Alec def. belong together. We went to Dupont to Melody , this really great cd store Alison's friend works at (and buys for). Then it was pouring down rain. We rode around on the Metro , sometimes changing trains and sometimes getting off at places like "the smithsonian" to look around for 5 minutes at the mauve sky and the swamp that the Mall becomes when it rains. We didn't see anybody else...so it was actually REALLY COOL and prob. one of the best parts of the trip. Then we got off at Federal Triangle and ran around on the street and went to the B and N. Then it was time to go, and after messing up on the metro a few times, we finally made it to the black cat just in time to see His Name is Alive play (after Death Vessel...who is just like...weird) but his name is alive was really great and the lead singer had an amazing stage pressence (just like the leader singer from LOW...who were next). the lead singer from Low was sooooo charismatic AHHHH. The set was at times boring, but looking at him def. kept my attention for the most part. The Black Cat is HUGE!!!! I was like ooo soo this is an actual club...but I don't know I stand by the Ottobar as best ever. OOO and I swore I saw Vincent Gallo being a stage hand and I freaked out about it and Alec wasn't there to see it. Then when he finally turned up I was like "did you see Vincent Gallo??!" and he hadn't, then at the end of the show he saw him and we both just freaked out again, this techie looked exactly like Vincent Gallo (who we both love, him more then I). Alec stole the Low water bottle (ie: the lead singer's unopened bottle of water from the stage). Then we got driven back to the metro station by Alison's dad, which was actually really funny. Then it was an epic trip back. I slept most of it. IT WAS SUCH A GOOD DAY!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I LOVE LIFE SOO MUCH.
